I’m excited to tell you about a new book by Coach Tony Dungy. Only this time, he has joined forces with his wife, Lauren to create a book for children called You Can Be a Friend. This book is a wonderful story that you can read aloud with your kids. The story is about a little girl named Jade who has some tough decisions to make about who to invite to her birthday party. Tony and Lauren have taken a touching story that will help to teach your child what it means to be a good friend.
If you are interested in learning more about Tony and Lauren’s new book, you can go here. Starting this week, the Dungy’s will begin a book tour to promote You Can Be a Friend. You can find out when they’ll be in a city near you, get alerts about the book and follow the tour by going to Simon & Schuster here.
While you’re waiting to get your own copy of the book, here are some activities you can do with your kids to get the conversation started about what it means to be a good friend.
And finally, teaching your children to value of being a good friend is a foundational building block in the development of character. Simply put, human beings are designed to “do life” in community.
