Oklahoma Tornadoes: How to Respond When Storms Strike

< 1 min read

A terrible tragedy struck the state Oklahoma this week.  Tornadoes ripped through the town of Moore, Oklahoma, leaving homes and schools in ruins.  Let’s all pray for the people of Moore as they recover from this horrible incident.

It’s in these times that we must reflect on what’s important in life and where our priorities are.  Call your spouse spontaneously today and tell them how thankful you are to go through life with them.  Love on your kids with extra care when you get home tonight.  Do something to love your neighbor or coworker “as yourself” today.

Viewing the pictures of the damage and seeing people willing to pull people out of the rubble to help strangers is a great reminder that we are all human beings designed to love others.  Amidst the tragedy and storms of life, it is amazing to see people pour out that love upon others.

While we don’t always understand tragic events or painful circumstances, we do have hope in the One who created us. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  What an encouragement. What amazing love!

So, as you love your spouse and kids today, perhaps you can share some love with the Oklahoma victims as well.  If you’d like to give to the relief effort you can donate through the Red Cross, Samaritan’s Purse, or World Vision.
