Facebook: Friend or Foe (Part 2)

< 1 min read

Yesterday, we talked about how social media, particularly Facebook, has the potential to become a negative influence in your life – unless you take precautions.  But, it can also be a positive platform to enhance the lives of others.  With just the click of a mouse, you can reach people all over the world – which is a privilege; but it also provides you with a great deal of power.

So, how do you make the most of the opportunity you have at your fingertips?  Here are some suggestions:

1. Review books:

Read any good books lately?  Share how a particular book helped you with a personal issue or problem.  Or, suggest some fun reads for those who just want to take a mental break.  You can even create a book club with your Facebook friends.  Schedule regular meetings to discuss an assigned book.

2. Encourage others:

Is one of your friends going through a serious illness, a broken relationship, or a job loss?  Share their burden.  Post words of encouragement or a verse.  Offer to pray for them.  Let them know they are not alone.

3. Release your inner DJ:

Do you enjoy Michael Bublé and Mozart?  If you love a wide variety of music (or even if you have a favorite genre), recommend a great song!  It may be just what someone needs to hear.

4. Share your passions:

Do you love to cook?  Swap recipes.  Are you the ultimate sports fan?  Talk about the big game!  Facebook is a great way to meet others with similar interests and/or hobbies.

In what ways do you think Facebook can be used as a positive platform?  Please share your ideas with me.
