W-A-I-T

Wait…one of my least favorite four letter words (other than the obvious ones).  I am not a patient person and I don’t like the unknown.  I want to know how every project will end, how every movie will end and how every story will end.  Will it be a good ending? Will everyone live happily ever after?  And, what is around the next corner?

We all know what it is like to wait on something—a new direction, an exciting opportunity or a final answer.  You have either waited in the past, are waiting in the present or will be waiting, at some point, in the future.

One of team members at Family First shared with our entire team about this word, “Wait.” Here are her thoughts…

An acronym for WAIT is Will Answer In Time.  At some point, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the answer (whether it is the one we want or not) will come.  So, how do we make that “in-between” time a productive, not pessimistic, season of our life?

Here are some suggestions:

Reflection.

Use the time for introspection.  No one was created by God for a meandering life.  Clarify the desires of your heart.  Determine the purpose for your life.  Confirm you are asking the right question.

Preparation.

Use the time for groundwork.  What skills do you need for that potential career change?  What baggage do you need to “unpack” prior to a new relationship?  What financial habits do you need to master to be in a better position for that new house?  Be proactive by preparing.

Activation.

Use the time actively to serve others.  What cause ignites a fire in your soul?  Whether it is political, charitable, or spiritual, volunteer your time to enhance the lives of others – and you will take your mind off the wait.

So, remember, don’t waste the wait.  Make the most of it! I’d also love to hear your suggestions on how to spend your “waiting” time.
